As February comes to an end, we are quickly approaching the first day if spring! (That’s March 20th for anyone wondering). I don’t know about you, but I have been OVER with winter and have enjoyed the few tastes of spring that we have experienced already!
Spring is one of my favorite seasons because everything feels so fresh and new! Flowers begin to bloom, grass turns green again, and I can finally wear open toed shoes!
What helps you feel fresh and new? I always feel a huge weight lifted when I deep clean my home. I try to do this once a month, but there are some areas that I don’t take time to get to like I should: The patio, my mattress, the floorboards, the inside of my cabinets, etc.
And hey, I’m not just talking to “grown ups” here. For my followers still living at home or in a dorm room- when was the last time you stripped down your room or bathroom and made it tidy? You want to be productive? Nothing will make you feel like getting things done like having a clean desk, clean shower, etc!
Today I am sharing my top 10 cleaning products that I could not live without! These products are ones that I have always loved, or fell in love with in 2018 and continue to use into the new year! While I have these affiliate links set up, I would not be sharing these products if truly didn’t believe in them! I hope I inspire you to add some of these products to your life! If you’re instructed in purchasing any of these products, just click on the pictures!
Since we have a dog (and soon a baby), spot cleaning our carpets is something we have to do a LOT. Bailey is constantly dragging her dirty paws through the carpet or pulling food off the counter and into the living room. I found that a lot of times a rag or even the brushes that come with some spot cleaners aren’t powerful enough to scrub out the dirt. We bought this bad boy a few months ago and it has been a LIFE CHANGER. We have to use it at least once a week!
2. Carpet Foaming Cleaner
Likewise, if you’re planning to spot clean, you’re going to need some carpet cleaner. We have really enjoyed using these foaming cleaners over the liquid kind because I feel like it makes it easier to scrub into the carpet. We have gone through several bottles this past year and definitely buy in bulk now to save some money!
3. Toilet Scrubbers For Each Bathroom
I heard this tip a while back and it has created an awesome habit for me- buy one toilet scrubber per toilet in your home and keep it in that bathroom. It sounds obvious to some, but growing up we maybe had one toilet bowl scrubber for the whole house and as a result, the toilets weren’t cleaned that often. Once my husband and I moved in together, we purchased one toilet scrubber per bathroom and it has made a big difference in the cleanliness of our bathrooms! I love this pack on Amazon because it comes with three already!
4. Method Multipurpose Cleaner
I bought this multi-purpose spray back in 2018 and prefer it to most multipurpose cleaners. It smells so good that I’ve noticed my husband reaches for it more to help me clean! It’s a win/win!
5. Lavender or Orange Essential Oils
I don’t sell essential oils, and I don’t swear by any brand. When I pick out my essential oils I just make sure that it is 100% pure oil and not fragrance oils, fillers, etc.
Why are essential oils on a cleaning list?
I love to add essential oils into my home to make it smell cleaner! I wrote a post here sharing all the different uses for essential oils and I still use them in these ways! Go read that post to see how I incorporate essential oils into my cleaning regimen. P.s. My favorite scents are lavender, peppermint, and lemon. I love this pack from amazon because it has all the staples for a low price!
6. Magic Erasers (big pack)
Magic erasers are great, but the Mr. Clean brand it often a little too pricey. I found this brand on Amazon that contains 20 sponges for a super low price! It is the same material, so the cleaning power does not change. I use these sponges to spot clean my walls, floorboards, doors, and even my cabinets! if you have never used a magic eraser before, you’re missing out! They easily clean crayon marks, dirt scuffs, wine stains, etc!
7. Mrs. Myers Multisurface Concentrated
I shared my love for this product a while back and I still stand by my review. This is a RIDICULOUSLY cheap way to use the popular and critically acclaimed Mrs. Meyers brand without breaking your budget.
We bought this bottle almost a year ago and still have a ways to go! My favorite Mrs. Meyers scents are the Basil and the Lavender!
8. Baking Soda
Baking soda is a well known cleaning product, but I bet you’ve never used it to clean your mattress before! My husband has to wear body armor at work and often when he works night shifts, he crawls into bed without showering. Thankfully this routine has forced me to change the sheets on a weekly basis (I used to do it once a month maybe…Gross, I know). Usually a change of sheets will be enough to have our bed smelling nice again, but every month or so I like to strip the bed and use baking soda to pull out any odors or oils from the mattress! I simply shake a bottle of baking soda all over my mattress and let it sit for 6-8 hours. Then, I will take the nozzle of my vacuum and suck it all up! My mattress looks and feels so refreshed whenever I do this.
I made the mistake of using the baking soda I cook with once and realized I had run out when I needed it for a recipe. I recommend buying a separate container for cleaning purposes!
9. Linen Spray Sea Salt and Neroli
^How I feel about this product.
I found this product about two years ago and
now I’m really not sure if I can live without it.
First of all, if you do not own a linen spray
WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR LIFE then you are missing out! This sea salt neroli linen spray seriously smells like a luxury hotel!
We spray our sheets with it between washes, the towels in the guest bathroom, and even the carpet if we really want our home to smell good. The scent lasts for a few days and I’m not exaggerating when I say that this scent is probably my favorite thing I’ve ever smelled. It’s not a “need” but it definitely raises the bar and makes me feel like my home is fresh and clean!
10. Microfiber Cloths
Microfiber cloths are great to use when cleaning, because unlike paper towels or rags, microfiber cloths don’t shed and leave behind pieces of cotton on your mirrors or furniture. They’re also great because they are more difficult to stain and can save your washcloths or kitchen rags from getting gross and unpresentable. I like this package from amazon because of the different colors. If you’re taking a day to clean, it’s nice to say that yellow cloths are for the kitchen, blue cloths are for the bathroom, and white cloths are for the windows, etc. This way, you don’t use your toilet towel on your counter tops!!
I hope you enjoyed this collection of my favorite MUST HAVE cleaning products! All the pictures link to the amazon page so that you can easily add them to your cart and have your home smelling fresh and clean in no time!
